Hard water is water with high mineral content (in contrast with "soft water"). Hard water is formed when water percolates through deposits of limestone and chalk which are largely made up of calcium and magnesium carbonates. Hard water is often indicated by a lack of suds formation when soap is agitated in water, and by the formation of limescale on fixtures and water heaters. Wherever water hardness is a concern, water softening is commonly used to reduce hard water's adverse effects.
We recommend Economizer Automatic water softeners that backwash (an automatic process which flushes out and regenerates the system at night at a predetermined interval.) The interval is based on water consumption rates, which saves money. The average homeowner can easily service our systems, but we offer service contracts if desired.
The average system costs $1,700-2,200 installed. Call 919-870-8338 for a free water test and analysis.
